Need an urgent cake order? Plans change, and sometimes you find out about a birthday or farewell with only a day or two to spare. At Norie's Cake Atelier, orders needed in under 48 hours are possible on some days, with a 10 to 15% rush charge, and only if our schedule allows. Here is how rush orders work, what is realistic, and how to give yourself the best chance of a yes.
Our normal notice times
- Standard cakes: at least 3 days.
- Custom designs: 7 days.
- Wedding and multi-tier cakes: 3 to 4 weeks.
Anything inside 48 hours is a rush order. We cannot promise one, because every cake is baked and decorated for a specific customer, and our days are planned ahead. When there is room, we will say yes and tell you the total straight away.
Why rush orders cost more
Rush orders mean reshuffling baking and decorating time, buying ingredients at short notice and sometimes working late. The 10 to 15% charge covers that. For example, a 1kg vanilla cake (KES 2,500) would cost about KES 2,750 to 2,875 as a rush order.
What is realistic in under 48 hours
- Realistic: 1kg to 2kg cakes in Classic or Signature flavours, buttercream finish, message topper, drip, sprinkles or an edible photo print.
- Harder: detailed fondant figures, multi-tier cakes and complicated colour work. These need time to set and travel safely.
- Easy backup: a box of cupcakes, brownies or doughnuts, which can be a lovely gesture on their own.
How to ask for an urgent cake
- Message us on WhatsApp (0711 536 504) with the date and time you need the cake, the size, flavour and wording.
- Say whether you will pick up at Machakos Celebration Centre or need delivery, and where.
- Be flexible: offer a second flavour choice and a simple design.
- If we can do it, we confirm the rush total and you pay the 50% deposit by M-Pesa to lock it in.
Delivery for urgent orders
Machakos town delivery is KES 300 to 500. Athi River, Syokimau, Kitengela and Nairobi are priced by distance and depend on drivers being available, so pickup is often the fastest option.

Pastries to go with the cake
For bigger groups or a dessert table, our pastry menu stretches a cake further: classic cupcakes KES 150 each (box of 6 for KES 850, 12 for KES 1,650), signature cupcakes KES 200, classic fudge brownies KES 150, loaded brownies KES 200, stuffed cookies KES 180, cinnamon rolls KES 250, glazed doughnuts KES 100, and dessert cups such as tiramisu, Biscoff cheesecake, tres leches and banana pudding at KES 300 each (box of 4 for KES 1,100). Mini cupcakes are KES 100 each with a minimum of 12.
Allergies and dietary needs
Our cakes and pastries contain gluten, eggs and dairy, and may contain nuts. Please tell us about any allergy when you order. We would rather tell you honestly that something is not suitable than risk a guest's health.
Keeping the cake in good shape
- Carry the box flat on the floor of the car or on a level seat, never on a lap or by the sides.
- Keep it out of direct sun; buttercream softens quickly on a hot dashboard.
- If the event is many hours away, refrigerate the cake and take it out about 30 minutes before serving.
- Name one person to receive the cake and check it on arrival.

- Build your cake on the order page: flavour, size, add-ons, date, and pickup or delivery. It shows your total and 50% deposit as you go.
- Tap to send the summary to Norie on WhatsApp (0711 536 504), adding any design photos.
- We confirm the design, the date and any delivery fee.
- Pay the 50% deposit by M-Pesa to 0711 536 504 to secure your date.
- Pay the balance before pickup or delivery.
