A school birthday cake package takes the stress out of celebrating with your child's class. Instead of working out how to slice one big cake for 30 excited children, you send a small cake for the birthday song and candles plus a cupcake for every pupil. Norie's Cake Atelier's packages start at KES 3,700 and are built only from items on our menu.
Why a cake plus cupcakes works for school
- No slicing in class. Teachers rarely have knives, plates or time; cupcakes are hand-held portions.
- Fair portions. Every child gets the same treat, which avoids tears.
- A moment for the birthday child. The cake carries the name and candles for photos.
- Less mess. Cupcakes go back into their boxes for easy clean-up.
How to choose the right package
Count the pupils in the class, add a few extra for teachers, assistants and any visiting siblings, then pick the package that covers that number. Ask the teacher for the class size rather than guessing.
- Daycare or playgroup: Daycare Mini (mini cupcakes suit small hands).
- Around 20 pupils: Class Starter.
- 30 to 40 pupils: Full Class.
- Want to thank the teachers too: Class + Teachers.
Personalising the package
The cake can carry a message topper (KES 200) with the child's name and age, or an edible photo print (KES 500) of a favourite character. Toppers and upgrades are added at menu prices and confirmed on WhatsApp.
Timing the delivery
Most class celebrations happen late morning or just before home time. Agree the time with the teacher, then tell us whether you will collect at Machakos Celebration Centre or need delivery. Delivery is KES 300 to 500 in Machakos town and priced by distance to Athi River, Syokimau, Kitengela and Nairobi. Many parents prefer delivery to their home the evening before or the morning of, then carry it to school themselves, because schools may not accept deliveries at the gate.
Early birthdays and holidays
If your child's birthday falls in the school holidays, many families celebrate early, on the last week of term. Book those dates early, as end-of-term weeks are busy.

Check the school's rules first
Every school and daycare sets its own rules on food brought in for birthdays: some ask for cupcakes only, some limit sugar, and many are nut-aware. Ask the class teacher about the date, the time, what is allowed and how many pupils and staff will be there before you order. Our cakes and pastries contain gluten, eggs and dairy and may contain nuts, so we cannot promise nut-free or allergen-free items. Tell us about any allergies in the class and we will advise honestly.
Keeping the cake in good shape
- Carry the box flat on the floor of the car or on a level seat, never on a lap or by the sides.
- Keep it out of direct sun; buttercream softens quickly on a hot dashboard.
- If the event is many hours away, refrigerate the cake and take it out about 30 minutes before serving.
- Name one person to receive the cake and check it on arrival.
Pastries to go with the cake
For bigger groups or a dessert table, our pastry menu stretches a cake further: classic cupcakes KES 150 each (box of 6 for KES 850, 12 for KES 1,650), signature cupcakes KES 200, classic fudge brownies KES 150, loaded brownies KES 200, stuffed cookies KES 180, cinnamon rolls KES 250, glazed doughnuts KES 100, and dessert cups such as tiramisu, Biscoff cheesecake, tres leches and banana pudding at KES 300 each (box of 4 for KES 1,100). Mini cupcakes are KES 100 each with a minimum of 12.
Booking terms in brief
- Order at least 3 days ahead; custom designs need 7 days; wedding and multi-tier cakes need 3 to 4 weeks.
- Rush orders under 48 hours cost 10 to 15% more, subject to availability.
- A 50% M-Pesa deposit to 0711 536 504 confirms your date; the balance is due before pickup or delivery. Deposits are non-refundable, and date changes are free with 72 hours' notice.
- Pickup is at Machakos Celebration Centre. Delivery within Machakos town is KES 300 to 500; further away is priced by distance.
- Cakes contain gluten, eggs and dairy, and may contain nuts. Mention allergies when you order.
