Setting a wedding cake budget in Kenya is easier than it looks once you know three numbers: your guest count, the price per kg of your chosen flavour, and your decoration plan. With Norie's Cake Atelier's real prices (from KES 2,500 per kg), this planner walks you through the maths and a checklist so there are no surprises close to the day.
Step 1: confirm the guest count
Kenyan weddings grow as families get involved. Use your final invitation list plus 10% for walk-ins. Remember that guests who leave early or skip dessert will not reduce the cake you need by much.
Step 2: convert guests to kilos
Allow about 1kg per 8 to 12 guests for dessert-sized portions. For 150 guests that is roughly 13 to 19kg. Many couples choose a smaller display cake and serve the rest as cupcakes or pastries.
Step 3: pick flavours per tier
Each tier is priced at its flavour's per-kg rate. A common mix is Classic or Signature for the big bottom tier and a premium flavour on top.

Pastries to go with the cake
For bigger groups or a dessert table, our pastry menu stretches a cake further: classic cupcakes KES 150 each (box of 6 for KES 850, 12 for KES 1,650), signature cupcakes KES 200, classic fudge brownies KES 150, loaded brownies KES 200, stuffed cookies KES 180, cinnamon rolls KES 250, glazed doughnuts KES 100, and dessert cups such as tiramisu, Biscoff cheesecake, tres leches and banana pudding at KES 300 each (box of 4 for KES 1,100). Mini cupcakes are KES 100 each with a minimum of 12.
Allergies and dietary needs
Our cakes and pastries contain gluten, eggs and dairy, and may contain nuts. Please tell us about any allergy when you order. We would rather tell you honestly that something is not suitable than risk a guest's health.
Keeping the cake in good shape
- Carry the box flat on the floor of the car or on a level seat, never on a lap or by the sides.
- Keep it out of direct sun; buttercream softens quickly on a hot dashboard.
- If the event is many hours away, refrigerate the cake and take it out about 30 minutes before serving.
- Name one person to receive the cake and check it on arrival.
Booking terms in brief
- Order at least 3 days ahead; custom designs need 7 days; wedding and multi-tier cakes need 3 to 4 weeks.
- Rush orders under 48 hours cost 10 to 15% more, subject to availability.
- A 50% M-Pesa deposit to 0711 536 504 confirms your date; the balance is due before pickup or delivery. Deposits are non-refundable, and date changes are free with 72 hours' notice.
- Pickup is at Machakos Celebration Centre. Delivery within Machakos town is KES 300 to 500; further away is priced by distance.
