Wedding cake prices in Kenya are almost always worked out by weight, so the real question is how many kilos your guest list needs. At Norie's Cake Atelier in Machakos, wedding cakes are priced from our standard per-kg menu: from KES 2,500 per kg for Classic flavours up to KES 3,500 per kg for Premium flavours, plus any decoration you choose. How wedding cake prices in Kenya are calculated
Most Kenyan bakers use the same formula: kilos x price per kg for your flavour + decoration + delivery and set-up. Multi-tier cakes often mix flavours, with a different flavour in each tier, so each tier is priced at its own flavour rate.

How many kilos of wedding cake do you need?
A common rule is about 1kg for every 8 to 12 guests when the cake is served as dessert in finger-sized portions. Use this as a starting point:

These estimates use our per-kg rates before decoration and delivery; your final quote depends on the design. Many couples keep a smaller display cake and add plain sheet portions or pastries for the rest of the guests, which reduces cost without anyone going without. Tiers: how big should each one be?
A two-tier cake suits most weddings up to around 60 to 80 guests; three tiers suit larger receptions. A popular approach is a heavier bottom tier in a crowd-pleasing flavour (vanilla or red velvet) and a smaller top tier in something special such as Biscoff, carrot with cream cheese or hazelnut chocolate.

Fresh flowers and gold leaf are the most requested wedding finishes. Fondant figures and detailed sugar work cost more because of the time involved. If you have a picture of a design you love, send it on WhatsApp and we will quote it piece by piece.
When to book your wedding cake
Book wedding and multi-tier cakes 3 to 4 weeks ahead at minimum. December, April and August are busy months for weddings and ruracio ceremonies in Machakos and Nairobi, so earlier is safer. A 50% M-Pesa deposit to 0711 536 504 secures the date, and the balance is due before delivery. Date changes are free with 72 hours' notice; deposits are non-refundable.
Delivery to your venue
Wedding cakes are delicate, so most couples choose delivery straight to the venue. Delivery within Machakos town is KES 300 to 500, and other venues are priced by distance. How to save on a wedding cake without it looking cheap
- Choose a Classic flavour for the largest tier and save premium flavours for the top.
- Use a clean buttercream finish with fresh flowers instead of fondant figures.
- Pair a smaller display cake with a dessert table of cupcakes (from KES 150 each) or brownies.
- Book early to avoid rush charges.
